Do you need some help teaching math to your children? Do the Common Core State Standards have you stymied? I’m here to empower and assist!
As a mom who homeschooled her four children for 15 years, I can relate to your struggles and concerns. As a Michigan certified mathematics teacher with 28 years of experience in mathematics education, I can help you to overcome them! The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) do not need to be intimidating. The overarching goal is to get students to use logical mathematical reasoning rather than merely following some memorized procedure. In other words, teaching them how to think. And isn’t that what we teach and desire for our children to do in all areas of their lives?
Over the years, I have utilized various mathematics curriculum including Miquon, Saxon, UCSMP (University of Chicago Mathematics Program), CMP (Connected Mathematics Project) and many others. However, I am willing to provide homework assistance with any mathematics curriculum that you use as long as you supply the books or materials.
I would love to instill or bolster an understanding, love, and appreciation for math in your student! I am available to tutor your student Monday – Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Parents are welcome to stay in the room and learn right along with their student, wait in another room, or drop their student off. We live on the northwest side of Kalamazoo, about 5 minutes from the Drake and West Main intersection, not far from many stores and businesses.
If you are ready to talk to me about tutoring your student, please call me at 269-345-2416 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I hope to hear from you soon!
