Where is Math from the Mitten located?

Currently, I am providing tutoring services out of my home, located in the northwest side of Kalamazoo, Michigan. The nearest major cross street is the corner of Nichols Road and Ravine Road. I have a dedicated tutor office area in our finished basement. Parents are welcome to stay in the room and listen in to the tutoring, camp out in our living room, or drop their student off. The Kalamazoo River Valley Trail is within walking distance from our home and many stores are a 5 – 10 minute drive away.

How much does tutoring cost?

My current rates are listed on my Fees page. Please call (269-345-2416) or email (mathfromthemitten@gmail.com) me if you have questions.

How long is a tutoring session?

The typical length of one tutoring session is one hour; however, for older grades and college students, longer sessions may be requested. In order for the tutoring to have the largest possible impact, my recommendation for most students who are struggling in their mathematics class is to meet for one hour, two or three times a week.

Are you a certified teacher?

I have been a certified teacher in Michigan since 1981. I graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education with math and English majors. I also earned a Master of Science in the Teaching of Elementary Mathematics – Grades K – 5 from Walden University. Additionally, I have been a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics for many years.
